As of the end of the year, Premier Photography will no longer be a business entity. We have decided that there just is not enough clients coming in to justify the expenses. The website will be active until Mar. 3 2010, we will let it expire at that date.
However, we will still be doing the photography, just not as Premier Photography. We think closing the business end of it may return some of the fun we used to have in doing the photography.
Hopefully the new year will bring many new opportunities and changes.

Small Family Adventure
Saturday, November 7th we made the last minute decision to drive to Ha Ha Tonka State Park. Nearly a four hour drive later we had the opportunity to explore a 3.5 story burned out mansion that sat atop a more than 200 foot cliff, a water tower that was built even higher. When it was in operation, in the early 1900's, the pump had to draw water from the lake and push it nearly 300 feet straight up. The caves were not open to the public so we went to see the land bridge and huge sink hole. The island had some great views of the cliffs and spring.
Beautiful park, we hope to return there again in the spring and enjoy the trails that we did not have time for this time.
A small video and a few photos have been posted Here

Fall Colors
I wish fall would last a little longer, more of a chance to get out there and photograph the colors. Last weekend we just drove around for a couple of hours looking for colorful trees and scenics.

Something New. . .
Over this last weekend Katy and I decided that we wanted to go someplace new. We ended up going to Squaw Creek Wildlife Refuge in northern Missouri. It was about an hour and 40 minute drive but it was well worth it. Though we didn't see an abundance of wildlife, some of the views were fantastic. We are planning to go again once the leaves start turning. Definitely not the best place for someone afraid of heights, as I am :)
I have posted a few photos on our FLICKR page
We saw a few deer, a squirrel, and more than enough snakes. Katy even had her first encounter with a blue racer, she loved it. When it comes to snakes I think she is a little nuts lol. Check out her FLICKR page
Now the only question is what will next weekend bring?
--as always, if you would like to be removed from receiving this please just send an email to info@premierphotokc.com with the word "remove" in the subject line and we will take your name off--
Thank you to everyone who has supported us.

Our First Pin-Up Style Shoot
Despite my flash dying and one strobe that kept firing for no reason we had a great shoot. I must admit I was a little nervous as this was my first time ;)
Brenda, as always, was a great model to work with and I hope we get to work together again some time.
Enough talk, the pictures are HERE

KC 2009 Air Expo
Unfortunitely we missed the Air Show on Saturday, but we found a great place right across the river on Sunday. Kaw Point Park provided a great place to watch the aerial routines. My favorites were the Mig-15, the F/A-18 Hornet and the F4U Corsair.
Here are some pics

What To Come?
Katy spent two days trying to talk me into pushing a little longer for Premier, to give it a little more time. I have decided to give it a couple of more months, so we will be here for awhile longer yet. But we will see what we will see.
See our newest flyer HERE
Hopefully this works out we get to continue working with all the great models and talented people we have met.

Semi good news
We have had a paying client contact us about doing some maternity shots, so that buys us a couple of weeks longer.

Sometimes we just have to know when to quit
As always, I want to thank everyone that supported Premier Photography, but the time has unfortunitely come when we must end the journey. Believe me I would love nothing more than to continue, but it just is not going to be possible.
No matter how much we got out and tried to make contacts we have absolutely no business coming in and without the paying business we just cannot continue to justify the expenses. It has been a fun and exciting ride but without paying clients we just cannot keep going.
This will more than likely be the last entry in this blog so I want to take this chance to tell everyone thank you and goodbye. :(

Something to think about
We are looking for spaces to rent by the hour in various parts of Kansas City that will allow us to cover most of the KC area and be more convenient for our clients to travel to us. If you have a place or know of a place then please let us know.
With Halloween coming up we are now offering Halloween Costume portrait sessions. More details can be found by clicking here
As much as we do not like seeing summer drawing to a close in the next couple of months we are excited this year to offer holiday portraits. Contact us for more information.
Even if you are not currently needing photography services, chances are that you know someone who does so we would appreciate a referral. Rememeber that for every paying referral you send to us you can make $$$.
AS always, if you do not wish to receive this email then please send and email to info@premierphotokc.com with the word remove in the subject line.
Thank you to all of our supporters!

What is coming up with Premier Photography
The next two months should prove to be pretty interesting for us. We are looking at having access to a studio in Liberty and possibly renting studio and office space in Bonner Springs, this allows us to cover both sides of Kansas City a lot better.
We are working and planning several projects coming over the next two months, one of which is doing a vampire shoot to help us promote our Halloween Costume Portraits we are currently offering, more info below:
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2586/3783548932_bbec8823ae_b.jpg
These will not be the Sears studio portrait. We will find a location that fits your costume and make it a truly unique and fun experience.
We are also working on several projects that include some fashion and pin up style shooting and hope to develop lasting business relationships with the MUAs and models we are working with.
Again, thank you to everyone that has supported and helped us while we build Premier into a unique photographic business.
As always, if you do not wish to receive this update just email info@premierphotokc.com with the word "remove" in the subject line and your email will be removed immediately. Thank you.

Kansas City
Friday night afforded us an opportunity that we usually do not get, the kids with with grandparents. We took full advantage and spend the evening driving around KC enjoying seeing things we generally do not get to. Our main goal was to get some night shots of the KC skyline. Which we did, along with some of the statues. Saturday we found ourselves down on the Plaza trying to get some shots of the fountains but the light and white sky was not very friendly to us. So we went to Loose Park and walked the rose gardens. Rather than uploading the photos here, i put them on our Flickr page: click here to some of the samples
Enjoy the pics and if you have some suggestions of landmarks or anything interesting that you think would be a good shot, let us know! We are always looking for new things to photograph.
Reminder: If you do not want to receive this, send me an email at info@premierphotokc.com with the word "remove" in the subject line. Thank you to all who support us.

Brianna photoshoot
Brianna is a member of the Fae at the Renaissance Festival this year. It will be her first year of participating so Premier Photography was glad we had the opportunity to meet and work with her. Join us in wishing her luck in her first year with the Festival.

Date book
Date book:
Get a date book immediately. This is your main tool for this business. Some agencies produce their own with pertinent phone numbers and information important to their models. You need to buy a generic daily planner with enough space to write down castings, appointments, and fittings in each day. Everything should be written in detail.
Write in pen if it’s for sure and pencil if it’s pending.
For example, if your agency books you for a job, be sure to write down all the details in pencil. This mean it is not for sure. Once your agency confirms the information, re-write in ink.
Record what you wore to audition, who you met, the directions, etc. You may need this information later.

A vision realized...
For about the last 3 years I have wanted to do a photo project that depicted a modern day warrior. When I met Brenda a few months ago, I saw she had the perfect look for the project. She agreed to be the model.

Special thanks to
Zac for loaning us his weapons and tactical gear,
Tonya for coming out and doing the make up
Rodney for safety.

Parades and Renaissance Festival
Since last Saturday we have had the pleasure to cover two parades for the Renaissance Festival. The Snake Day parade and the St. Patrick's Day parade. It was alot of fun watching everyone and following the group as they danced and moved down the parade route. You can visit our website: http://www.premierphotokc.com/ to see the galleries for each parade. Attached are some images we took before the St. Patrick's Day parade. Thank you to the wonderful Fae for allowing us the opportunity to take these.

Another announcement is that sessions will be 50% off during the month of March. We can’t wait to get outdoors and start capturing your memories for you.
Another announcement we would like to share is that we have been invited to do some unofficial photography at the Renaissance Festival this year by some of the actors. You can check their site out here: http://www.kcrenfest.com/
We are very excited about all of this and hope you will share in the warmer weather with Premier Photography.
